Hi guy's have a question I just purchased a new sein net with the bag it is 25 ft wondering if I should of went with a 50 ft. net hoping 25 ft . will be big enough. Last year was a great year for me have 2 bags left ready to get more.

Last year was a great year for me have 2 bags left ready to get more. whiskey, Short of looking up the MN fishing regulations I believe you can only use a seine net that is 25’ or less. If I remember correctly you need a commercial fishing license to use a seine longer than 25’. Hope that helps... BD110 P.S. this would apply if you’re asking about the Minnesota side of things. It looks to me like Wisconsin may have different regulations.

Over the years of watching smelt "pour" around my legs as I've pulled a seine. I would say that the extra length of robe from the handles to the net can be anywhere from 2' to 5', when you are pulling you are making a large U. So that distance isn't really that important. Technique is your main concern.
