Came out to play this evening for one last time. Met up with my son and big andy at the airport area on park point. Started pulling at 9. Done at 1145 with 1 cooler and a full bucket. All I need for one more buddy. Andy had 3 more pails full and was working on more. Walker was down the beach and not doing as well and took over my spot. He was already doing much better when we left. Got a nice laker and a crappie tonight to boot.
Interesting side note. Hardly any cars at the break wall. Not sure how things have been going there lately.
Best pulls were 5 gallon and 4 gallon. Most were about 1.5 gallons. Still running just fine.

Big thanx to dominodave for hooking up some rooks with a vet such as BigAndy and Ricky had a blast and learned alot and had the pleasure of pulling with netmaster and jzon5000 hopefully made some lasting friendships lookin forward to a couple hours sleep then cleaning and eating some smelties cooked even! I crashed in on that party with BigAndy and Ricky. It was GREAT! The only down side is that I almost had to give Big Andy my screen name of NetMaster (yep him and Ricky are that good) but I need to say that yammaddogg came through, and we had some pulls that may allow me to keep the name. Our high fives, followed by some saying rather loudly ... " NOW THATS HOW YOU DO IT!" after each pull that brought in more fish than them, might have given the impression that we were in a competition . For the record ... no one actually counted the total number of smelt that they caught ... so maybe we actually did have more smelt overall Either way, I am keeping the screen name! .......... (Yammaddogg, maybe we need to get working on a Smelt shuffle for the next time we are able to team up on a seine, just saying)

No problem Yammaddog we kinda started out slow and then we found our own little hot spot so we stuck it out. Was a good time I'll definitely be going back next year. Learned alot from this site the Christianson 25 foot sein with the bag works awesome glad I spent the money on it I don't think us rookies would have done so well without it.

Agreed. This was the most consistent run in several years. A person can pick any day and any spot and still be very successful.
All the gears are already put up and smelt cleaned and bagged. Have a great rest of the year and i hope to see all the helpful tips back here a year from now!

Looks like it's time to put this season to rest. I can't remember a year where it seems that everyone got all the smelt they wanted, and this year it seems that everyone did! Wow! Usually we have some hard luck souls that missed out because of weather and bad luck, not this year. I'm happy that everyone seemed successful. I personally got all my friends taken care of. Some newbies fully educated and some heads bitten off.
On a side a note, it always amazes me on how long and consistent the run can be on Park Point. This year was truly a banner year. In talking with some seasoned veterans, we are starting to think that the smelt population might be on the upswing. Not sure why, but the last 3 years have been outstanding. I don't think things will ever get back to the 60's type of smelting, but this has been pretty darn good.
Thanks to everyone who posted, offered to help pull a net, helped out whoever with whatever, and for just being great smelters! Hats of to everyone! Thanks and see you next year.

Domino as one of the newbies i thank all you veteran smelters for sharing your knowledge and friendship I look forward to many years pulling along side good people. I will never forget my first pull at the airport moon shining brightly above, camp fires strung out all the way back to the city with its lights shining like Christmas. We take nothing with us of value other than experiences we share. Till next time.
