Sounds like the run is doing well at PP! Males or females? Any word on Lester? Considering this weekend or next to take my old man out for some dipping, his first time in 25+ years. Anyone think next weekend (24th) may be too late? Obviously the run is hard to predict, but would appreciate your input! This will be my third year smelting, I enjoy the tradition and camaraderie

Be patient with the Lester. It will continue to be finicky until we get some consistently warmer weather. So the run will continue to be spotty there. Park Point will your best option for now if you have a sein.

Pulls a dozen each. Nothing explosive yet here at PP. Lots of smelters in sight. Will update.

Waves are building. Not too bad. A little wet apart of the fun. Still not the half bucket pulls. Give it a couple more pulls. If no success then we'll call it a night.

Weather is perfect though. No debris in the water. Perfect conditions.

Calling it a night. With rollers coming and amount per pulls, it ain't worth breaking the back for. Try again tomorrow.

Just finished smelting at PP at midnight thanks to a few kind fellows that lended us their help along with their seine. Filled two 60qt coolers in 3 hrs with a few 5 gal pulls in the mix. Was a great first time out.

The point tonight...half gallon pulls was average (not for people on either side of us though)...they started strong right away(9) and never made a pull more than 15 yards..were still going strong at 12:15 when we decided we had enough to deal with...a little technique and paying attention to "structure" seemed to pay off this time around..good luck out there!

Just finished dip netting the lester river from 2am to 4am. Very very slow, in those 2 hrs I pulled out maybe 30 fish. Made a new friend, he pulled a 5gal bucket from midnight until 2. Lots of work
