Lester report Mon May 4th. Got there at 9PM dipped till 11PM got 4 whole smelt. Pretty grim. I figured it couldn't be any worse at the point, I was wrong, zero at the point. Went back to the Lester and everyone had left. I dipped for about another half hour and got nothing. I'm thinking the "best" is over, maybe with the stangely wierd coolish spring, the conditions just weren't right for them to come in and spawn much at all. They may have dumped in the lake like they did 4 years ago, or they could be headed up the lake, who knows. It's been a tough year and things don't seem to be looking up, sorry, I wish I could report some better thoughts but their actions, or lack of, speak for themselves. What does Pete have to say at this point? The reality is that I've taken about 1/10 as much as I did last year and I think that's the case for pretty much everyone else as well.

I reported on another thread in here somewhere that Saturday 5/2/09 on the Lester was not all that wonderful, and we were there with 5 of us from 9pm to 3am. Lots of ones and twos...and about 3 pulls of 8's and 12's A buddy went out last night and stayed from 10:00 to 12:30, and only caught less than a dozen on the Lester.
Hope you all do better!!
