Saw some post on Facebook from Ashland shorelines. The pulls looked good. Don’t know if they trying to pull our legs. We may have at least week still. The ice on the shore need to cooperate though. Either they bs with us or on private land. You would see people next to them if public beach. but I can’t say cause I saw no one pull anything in Friday but things might change. Where is this video?

The videos are on the Facebook smelting groups...the last video I seen was from an outfitter..and it depends where you are on the public places in Ashland..last time I was there only place we got them on public nobody could even pull a net within 30ft of each side of us because of bottom and shoreline content....................

I live here in Ashland and they are getting them, I just bought some yesterday from one of our local sellers and he had 3 big coolers full, the problem over here is there is only 100yds or so for good smelting so it's hard to get a spot, the hotpond area is not worth the effort. Must stay east of the oredock. the runs are short lived each nite due to the cold air temps, down to 23 degrees here early this morn. Good luck fellas.

From Ashland website:
Smelt Report: April 28, 2019:
It appears the Smelt are now coming into the Bay. Smelters did really good last night and brought in a lot of smelt. We are hopeful the Smelt Run will continue tonight again.

I was at the chequamegon bay last night 8-midnight. No smelts in my seine net besides little 1-2 inch shiner minnows. There was about 10 bonfire on the left side of the pier walk bridge and the right side was a lot more as far as I can see from the beginning of the bridge. I did see the guys next to the right of the bridge seine in two smelt and I’m assuming and he threw it in his bucket. I forgot to bring my water temp thermometer but the water was way too cold to touch even for a second. Also I heard through word of mouth Park point still have ice on the shoreline. I don’t know where all these pics of smelts coming from but for sure it’s not from where I was last night.

I can confirm that the Lester and Steward were very slow. Only a few people and a few smelt caught. Might be June before they run with this forecast.....
