Might be a bit early in the season for them but they seem to run on Wisconsin side first. I'll say later this month but who knows.

Do any locals use a trolley and gill-net method ? You mean the umbrella drop net ? If yes our crew does on Wisconsin Point works awesome off the walls on canal looking at my records we were there April 16 last year and will do that again this year if water temps increase as I have a 4 hour drive from Wausau Wisconsin we will post how we are doing there as we always do lol Gill net method is not legal in minnesota,and I doubt in Wisconsin either..

4 weeks from this weekend last year season was done..should be starting soon..weather patterns for Minnesota and Wisconsin was different this year...mn was warm all winter..

I have a new H. Christiansen 25'wide X 4'deep with bag (pocket)smelt net for sale. I special ordered this net in 2015,we only used one night. The reason for selling is rest of family is to busy with work and family and working the net is to much for myself and my wife. Just spoke with Anglers All in Ashalnd. Nice people there!!! They stated there were guys out last night, but no smelt reported. Gotta be getting close!!!!

I had seen a post that someone was inquiring about bono creek. I too would like to know what ever happened to that place. Had a nice little beach at one time, now all covered by water.....anyone know if the water levels fluctuate that much??

Any of you ol' Souptown natives remember the big huge culverts out in east end where we used to take our dip nets to catch smelt?Been like 30 yrs for me since last netting smelt.
