Fellow smelter, please update on the smelt run tonight if you have been out tonight? Couldn't make it out tonight. I was thinking about tomorrow night but I want to make the drive if the run is done. Thanks.

We were at the airport from 8:30-9:30, awful waves and nothing to show for it. Headed to the Lester to try there and wound up with about 7 dozen for 2 of us from 10 - 12. Wind seemed to die down so went back to the airport from 12:30 - 1:30. Waves were about half what they were earlier, and got about another 7 dozen.

We were there last night at park point from midnight to 2 am and got 30 gallons... was an ok night but the waves got the better of us. The smelts are still there! Might go again tonight for one last time before the run ends.

It's so unusual to be smelting right on into early May. And it's still going. The weather pattern must've been a big factor.
Tonight seems to be a good night to go out. Enjoy while it last. Good luck everyone!

Yes, Pat did have some limited success. Tim and his wife did better. But she had the good spot that the fish wanted to be in! And sometimes that makes all the difference.
If the waves are down, I would hit the Point 1st. If dipping is your only option, go to the Lester, stay late and hope for a big push. Otherwise you should get enough for a few meals.
Good luck!

Going to give it one more try tonight with my son at park point. Some waves but not bad. Will give updates if they are worth giving.
