If you plan on going to Wisconsin for smelting I would look up what size nets are legal there I know in mn on superior the biggest net you can use is 25 × 4 feet but in Wisconsin you can use bigger nets I would call Christianson nests up in duluth I bought a 25 × 4 with a 4 foot pocket last year was our first year smelting and we did alright for a group of newbies filled a cooler and a half in about 4 hours awsome net good luck

Whiskey 2016 go to Ashland chamber of commerce they post updates on the smelt run there you got a few choices to go up there The Hot Pond , and behind Paminda I've only been to the Hot Pond and it was packed now we have been going to Wisconsin Point in Superior for 12 years now maybe longer lol We use drop/umbrella nets off the canal last year we had our best year over 300 gallons the extra 1 1/2 hour drive is worth it Good Luck this year !
