Going to Ashland Bayview Park tonight, is it worth it right now? Or should we stick to Duluth? Ashland did alright last night.

Waves were bad last night, 4-6 feet high, they would cover you easily so no one went in. Searching around and came across a Live beach cam in Duluth, looks like today it will be much calmer day to try to get some fish! Wind direction changed and is blowing from the west now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2wWzo9GmwY

Ashalnd and Bayview were hotter than snatch on prom night yesterday! Duluth beaches should heat up in a week or so, they are getting a few gallons up to 10 or 15, nothing special. I'll be in the bar chasing the ladies and hhaving drinks tonight in this cold and snow. My boys will be out, if I get a good early report i will join. Run has been right away in the evening so far......

Oldsmar has nailed it. Ashland is peaking rt now.
The beach is just lolly gagging along. Nothing special. But it's night is coming. We got 5 gallons last night the breakwall. Then we headed to the Lester....where we caught a few. They were there but not in big numbers. I've heard it's been on and off there.
With the cold weather moving in I would expect things to either hold steady or slow down a bit. Which isn't what everyone wants on a weekend.
Then it will pickup some next week with better weather. We all have plenty of time yet....

We hit PP last night. We got a little over 5gal. The best pulls were right around 11 but then slowed quick. Some buddies were at the airport and got about the same. The cold weather will slow them down. Hopefully we'll get some big action soon. Happy smelting!

Got 3 buckets. Still not quite the mother load but good enough to fry up. Everyone else around us did about the same or not as good. Started early and in waves. Picked up around midnight stopped at 1. Will try again midweek.

Wisconsin point had 19 nets laid out on the beach on the lake side and eights on the entry side by 8pm. The run is picking up but not at peak. Good luck all.

My boys gota big load last night. I'm going to lay off the sauce for the night and try my luck! I'll have me a giant fire going on PP. DNR came Friday but gave me no trouble. We got about 15 gal. in a few hours.

I went to PP on Saturday night (20th) and our group got 1.5 medium sized cooler. Best pull of that night was 1-2 but they were few and far in-between.
Last night, we seined until we were too exhausted to keep going. We maxed out at 5 medium sized coolers between five guys with waders. During 12am-2am we were averaging 2-5 gallon pulls! Best pull of the night was probably 6-7 gallon pulls. We did that 2x!
I believe yesterday is the peak. Male and female mix is 50/50. They were running past 2am but we finally had enough and lost the battle to fatigue and called it a night.
I SUGGEST GOING OUT IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN OUT YET BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

Thanks for posting a few pics! And yes, last night was a killer night on PP near the airport. It might even have been another one of Oldstars Prom nights! Lots of giggling, hooting and hollaring, and moaning too! The smelt were in and most of our backs were out by the end of the night! Yes, the smelt won! The previous posts were correct. It started out decent, then it just kept getting better and better. Tim and Raquel joined us late, they got all they could carry as well. The pulls really did get as high as 5+ gallon pulls! Which is what we hope for every time we go!
Here's my thoughts on the state of the run. I too believe we are at or near the peak. The weather has been very stabile. The winds have been cooperating. The cool air at night hasn't been cold enough to cool the water much and the highs aren't making it too warm either. So we are in the sweet spot right now. The rivers are doing well too. I would expect the run to stay near the top of this peak for a few more days before slowing down into next week. How long it hangs on is only a guess right now...so don't wait! Because a big change in the wind direction could make the beach not much fun!
So like they're saying! Get out there and enjoy the Peak! it won't last forever!
Btw....how that body feeling today Sandburr??? LOL!!!
The pics above are Sandburr, and Tim, myself and Raquel.
