Boy! Todays weather here the cities feels so nice! One would think that you should be up chasing smelt tonight! But I just looked at the cams, and the ice is just sitting on shore up there...so it's still a no go!!! But it will be soon!!!! But not soon enough!!!!
Even Ashland still looks like they have plenty of ice in the bay, so don't get too excited just yet!
But I'm starting to get that feeling.....!!!!

Here's my best explanation.... lakesuperiorfishing.net/ is them main site that hosts this forum. For me, it seems that it has a different profile for a phone app verses a laptop or PC computer with a land line connection. So there seems to be 2 different applications. So when you are land line connected, you can access the proper profile that gives you options for weather and webcams. This also has other links to satellite photos of lake superior that are updated multiple times daily. So if the sun is shining you can see exactly where the ice is sitting. Then there are also links to various webcams that the public can access and see what is happening in real time. Unfortunately, the beach cam has not been working at all on the links or it's actual website origin. But the canal cam or harbor cam shows some solid images of conditions as well. There are also links to current weather conditions such as air temps and wind directions and speeds..... For some reason, I can't get this info on my phone....which would be great when I'm on the beach or in a river. I hope this helps.

Look at the camera. There is a solid ice along the beach. Can any experienced smelter guess when they start to run? My guess is last day of April and early May ..,
