I tried the Stewart Sat. It was very slow only got about 1/4 bucket. Went down to the Beach and seen the breakwall area was packed.Went further down and it was slow. Sounds like I should have went with the crowds. Dang! I also need a better Seine with a pouch. Where can I buy one? This was my first year smelting. it sure is fun! Here's the website. Make sure its a 25 foot net and not 50. Minnesota only allows duluthfishnets.com/

Pulled nets last night (Sunday) near the airport parking lot. Arrived about 9:30, pulled til 2am and ended up with 25 gallons. Females outnumbered the males 2:1. We seemd to do the best when we found deeper water close to shore and pulled the nets parallel to shore before turning in towards the beach. Pulls produced between 1/4-3 gallons per pull. Also netted two fat lakers and a small salmon that were released. Stopped at the Lester around 2:30am, about a dozen people dipping at the mouth. Looked like they were getting a couple every third dip or so. Thanks to all the people who posted information this year!

Tot lot last night. Great conditions for pulling seines. Only two of us, brought home 70 gallons of smelt by 1230ish. Felt like it was very close 50:50 males and females.
